Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center
In years past, children who were sexually and physically abused had to endure multiple interviews by lawyers, police, doctors, social workers and counselors. These interviews were oftentimes conducted in undesirable settings such as police stations, courthouses, and school hallways, none of which were conducive to the emotional well-being of children.
Caring and committed professionals worked together to forge a new way for abuse cases to be handled so that children would be treated with the utmost care, concern, and the respect that they deserved. They realized that a central location was needed to provide all kinds of services for children who had been victimized - a location that would convey protection, comfort, dignity and compassion. The Baldwin County Child Advocacy Center opened its doors in 1989 and continues to provide a child-friendly environment for child victims of sexual and physical abuse. Numerous vital services are offered free of charge to children, adolescents, and their supportive family members. Additionally, abuse prevention education and a host of additional programs centered around child safety are provided to our community.
